
1. How do you set machine to the Home position?
For the 600 Control…
1. On the monitor page press <AXIS> and then <Input>. This should
zero out AXIS on the screen.
2. Press the <Mainte> key twice. Press <Psswd input> and input
the appropriate password, <MPARA>.
3. Press <to Abs. pos> key, then <Axis Select>, <AXIS>,
<Input>.
4. Press <Abs Pos set>, <2>, <Input>.
5. Press <Monitor> to go back to the monitor page.
6. A) Handle UP + direction the amount computed by your formula to where Home
should be.
7. B) Or handle UP + the amount of your G54 to where Home should be.
8. Press <Mainte>.
9. Arrow up once to highlight Ref. Pos. Set, then type <1>, <Input>.
10. Type in the opposite number that is found in Machine End, <Input>.
(same numbers but opposite sign)
11. Handle Down - direction until machine stops moving. (Should be the amount
that you typed in the previous step)
12. Status should now have an “* “.
13. Turn Off NC. Home is set.
For the Fanuc 16M and 18M control….
1. Press the function key “OFFSET SETTING” on the CNC operation
panel.
2. Set the mode to “MDI”.
3. Press the soft key “SETTING”.
4. Move the cursor to “PARAMETER WRITE” on the CRT screen.
5. Input “1” into this parameter, this allows parameters to be
changed.
6. With the mode still in “MDI”, press the function key “SYSTEM”.
7. Press the soft key “PARAMETER”. Enter the parameter value 1815
and press No-SHR soft key. This will search for parameter #1815.
8. Move the cursor to bit #4 (APZ) on the axis to be set and change the “1”
to “0”. This will delete the current reference position.
9. Power the machine off, wait one minute, power the machine on.
10. Move the axis to correct reference position. See instruction manual to
determine the correct position.
11. Return to the parameter #1815 and move the cursor to bit #4 (APZ) on the
axis to be set and change the “0” to “1”.
12. Set the “PARAMETER WRITE” to “0”.
13. Power the machine off, wait one minute, power the machine on.
14. The new home position should be set at this point.2. What is the procedure
to run the machine on encoder?
For the Fanuc 16M and 18M control….
1. Press the HARD offset setting key then press SOFT setting key twice change
the write enable to a 1 (PWE )
2. Press the control key “SYSTEM”.
3. Press the soft key “PARAM”.
4. Type in “1815” and press the “NO.SHR” soft key.
5. The bit #1 (OPT) will have to be changed: Encoder = “0”, Scale
= “1”.
6. Then go to parameter “ 2015 “ and press “NO SHR “
soft key.
7. The bit # 4 will have to be change : encoder = “0”, scale =
“1’.
8. Then press “System”, “System”, “Page “,
“Servo”, “Param”.9. Then change the following parameter
valves:
ENCODER MP SCALE
N/M 100 1
POS PULES 12,500 10,000
10. Set Home Position for the axis you have change .For the Meldas 500 control….
1) Enter machine parameters:
a) Press ALARM/DIAGN function key.
b) Press PLC I/F soft key.
c) Input the following data.
DEVICE DATA MODE
(1001) ( ) ( M )
2) Press the “TOOL/PARAM” key, and go to the “SERVO”
page. Change the following parameters
# 1 SPEC Change from 90 to 80
# 2 MTYP Change the first digit from a “8” to a “1”
# 9 RNG1 Change to “100”
Go to Zero return parameter page change #4 GRSPC from 2 to 20
*Power off and back on.
3) Upon power up, there will be a Z70 ABS alarm on the axis being changed
over. This means there is no home position. ** DO NOT SEND THE AXIS HOME **
Follow the Home Position Procedure to set the home position.
